Snowbunny and Glinda progress

I finished the basic cape for Snowbunny Padme friday – went home today and found my trim and started sewing it on tonight. Unfortunately I ran out of thread about half way through! Stupid tiny travel sewing kits. I’ve got about a foot of it pinned on, so despite the pic below it’s not as done as I’d like. Chase is bringing me some more when he gets here later tonight, I’m really hoping to at least mark that off my list tonight. If I can finish that, I just need to add the ties, make the glove and boot toppers and fix my belt and it’s done.

My Snowbunny cape - nearly finished, I need to finish sewing on the trim and add the ties to the front. Sorry for hanging it on the dresser, don't have my dressform here at the moment.Chase asked me to do this to wear with his Clonetrooper to the Clone Wars toy premiere.Kelldar.com | My Facebook Page | Tumblr | Instagram

Sorry it’s on a hanger on the dresser, I’m house-sitting and don’t have my dressform here.

Saturday I got the underdress for Glinda put together, and started getting all the chiffon pieces cut out for it. (another use for left-over wedding decor). I’m making it exactly like I did Ozma – they’re almost exactly the same except the headgear, LOL. I did decide to stick with pink, even though there’s really no set colour in the illustrations that I’ve seen – but pink to a lot of people reads as Glinda, and the modern book has a different illustration on the front where the dress IS pink… anyway, I’m rambling.

Here’s my underdress all just pinned on –

I used left-over chiffon from our wedding decorations to make the underdress for my Glinda costume. These were all dyed in a gradient of white to pink to darker pink today - I need to finish the edges and permanently attach them to the underdress.

This afternoon I took all those pieces out and dyed them gradiated pink to darker pink (the top 1/4 is still white). I’m hoping it shows through a little bit (I think it will, my pink fabric is so thin). Once they get dry, I’ll finish the edges and get them permanently attached to the underdress.

Today I got the pieces of the outer dress basically put together.

Like my Ozma - this is based on the book illustrations. The outer dress of my Glinda costume. I'm so in love with the pink fabric I found for this! Right now it's just all the panels sewn together - I need to gather the top and finish that, and fix the bottom and hem it - then do the shoulder piece. Haven't decided if I'm going to add sleeves or not - John R Neill's illustrations change so often I can do them or not - I'll see how much fabric I have left over.

I made it longer than needed, because I’ll be wearing my platform boots underneath it… not exactly what Glinda would wear, but I wanted the extra height. Anyway, I’ve got to gather the top and get the bottom hem shaped and finished. Then I need to make the shoulder piece – I don’t know if i’m going to do sleeves on it or not… I’ll have to see how much fabric I have left.

Tomorrow I also want to get the muslin of my WW bodice started, so it’s ready to be the lining for the real thing when the leather gets here…
